Family History

David grew up in Austin graduating from Westlake High School in 1983. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and pursued a career in medicine. He completed his training obstetrics and gynecology and a subspecialty in complicated pregnancies (maternal-fetal medicine).  David opened his medical practice in 1997, caring for the pregnant patients of central Texas for over 25 years. He now works part time across several offices across the country.

Lisa Love, a single parent of three boys, and David, a single parent of four experienced the hand of fate (or the Hand of God) one summer night in 2014. Both were in their 40s when they met.

Their life experiences were almost completely parallel, yet mirror-image opposites. The new oddly perfect couple became inseparable and were married in October of 2015. Their move to Spicewood was set in motion decades before when the property, 63 acres of raw land, was originally purchased by David’s parents in 1999 as a refuge from city life and from fears around Y2K.

David’s dad, George Berry, was inspired into a survivalist mentality with the Y2K scare. George and his wife, Marilyn built a home on the property and prepped for the worst. The Berry’s “Ranch Home” in Spicewood became the family respite from daily life for themselves and their extended family.

David has fond memories of spending weekends and holidays in Spicewood with the extended family. “The land and the country house became an integral part of our family’s life,” says David, recalling numerous unforgettable family events.

When David’s parents entered retirement, the property became more difficult to maintain.  In 2001, George and Marilyn Berry decided to sell off a 8 acres of the land in order to maintain the remaining 55 acres.  In 2007, seeing the future dissolution of the “family land”, David offered to purchase the remaining land and house and continue the family tradition.

“I was sure that it was meant to remain in the family,” notes David.  

In 2015 - 2020, David and Lisa were each still working full-time jobs and living in Cedar Park. Every weekend, which should have been earmarked for relaxation and rest, was “stolen away” by some new project or unending work necessary to maintain the Spicewood second home.

As the housing boom and sudden bust was occurring in 2021, Lisa, as the true financial visionary of the family, stated the obvious:  “We don’t need two houses,”she declared. In May of 2021, David and Lisa sold their Cedar Park house and officially became citizens of Spicewood, Texas.

David remained so haunted by the sale of the 8 acre piece of the original family land in 2001 that he started making phone calls and verbal offers to the current owners to buy it back in order to “reunite the family land”.

After many rejections, the current owners agreed to sell the 8 acres back to Lisa and David in September of 2021.  Twenty-one years after the breaking up of the land, the original “family ranch” had finally been reunited.

Lisa recently stepped back into part-time mortgage business and is now a busy greenhouse gardener and entrepreneur running their new venture, Vino Tramonto Luxury Cabins, a group of tiny homes for rent, that were recently built on the newly acquired 8 acres.

We asked God what he wanted us to do with the land.  God told us that the cabins were meant to help people quiet the noise of life and hear HIS Voice!

“We realized that there are so few short-term rentals available in Spicewood. There are virtually no weekend rentals available for amazing and quick getaways.  The luxury cabins would also be great for traveling nurses.” says Lisa. 

The name, Vino Tramonto is a tribute to both Lisa’s Southern Italian heritage and to the Texas Hill Country.

Vino means wine and Tramonto means sunset, in Italian. You can experience uniquely-Texas wines within minutes in any direction. Absorb the warmth and glow of breath-taking sunsets and the ‘violet crown’ effect of central Texas.

The missing piece in the country escape were amenities.  Being 20 miles from both Marble Falls and Bee Cave made activities for the guests challenging.  David and Lisa expanded the vision for Vino Tramonto and decided to add an activities venue, swimming pool, walking trails and additional cabins.  2027 plan includes completing the construction of two covered-lighted pickleball courts and add two additional two-bedroom cabins for larger families and groups to enjoy. 

The activities venue became the brainchild that is now 4 Sisters Bar and Pavilion. As of August 4, 2026, 4 Sisters has received their licensing as a full-service bar through the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) and is classified as a “hotel” for the purposes of alcohol sales. 

4 Sisters Bar and Pavilion and Vino Tramonto luxury cabins are now in a great position to serve the local community, expand the vision of the Spicewood community and to give visitors an exceptional experience to comfortably visit the gateway into the Texas Wine Trail and the Texas Hill Country.
